Child's name: JustinNumber: C6673 Birthdate: 8/96 State: Washington Listed: May 2007, Updated 2/08 Photographs by Yuen Lui Justin is thriving in his new home, and having a foster dad who is a healthy male role model is a huge plus. There are other children in his new home which gives Justin the opportunity to demonstrate his ability to maintain in a family setting with kids who are older and younger than he is. The structure, clear rules, expectations, and limits in the home all help Justin to stay on track. And he is benefiting greatly from his foster parents’ willingness to take time to provide the guidance and parental attention that he did not get in his early years. Because some of Justin’s emotional and behavioral special needs are symptomatic of autism, his adoptive folk(s) must be very patient with him, keep strong boundaries in place at home, and provide the high level of acceptance Justin needs to do well. An assessment by a mental health therapist is being scheduled to determine what resources might be helpful to Justin and to those parenting him. Because of frequent moves in the past which included changing schools, Justin has benefited from having extra supports in the classroom to help him catch up to his grade level academically. A bright boy, he does good work and is adept at reading and math. Legally free, Justin came into foster care with his younger brother in August 2005. The boys will need to have contact with one another as they are growing up. Justin could thrive in any family where the parents will claim him as their own and provide the parental time and attention he needs to prosper and succeed. It will be more important for Justin to be surrounded by love than it is to look for a specific kind of family, although having a nurturing, attentive dad would be especially wonderful for this youngster.
