Child's name: NickNumber: C6910 Birthdate: 6/96 State: Washington Listed: January 2008, Updated 7/09 If you have completed an adoption homestudy and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact us. NICK (6/96), who is filled with compassion, is a soft spoken young man who has made some huge gains over the past couple of years. Nick has participated in sports and has been the manager for the wrestling team at school. Although not a gifted athlete, his passion for sports is obvious, and he really enjoys being involved in extracurricular activities. Nick has always resided in more rural settings and has enjoyed living on farms and spending time with the animals. Hick also enjoys computers and computer games. Nick is a boy who needs to be busy – when he is idle, he tends to get into mischief. Nick is legally free. Nick is academically on target and has received good marks. While he has struggled with inattentiveness this past year, his individual education plan and medication have really made a huge difference in his academic success. He was awarded Student of the Quarter for the third quarter of the 2008-2009 school year! Nick continues to need encouragement and guidance in increasing his social skills and abilities, especially around peers. Nick has a strong connection to his current foster parents and his grandmother and hopes to continue ongoing relationships with them. Nick can be argumentative at times and try and get his way, but not out of the range of what is normal for kids his age. Nick does have a pretty significant behavioral history, it appears to be in the past, as no one has seen those issues in a long time. He truly has stabilized and made huge gains despite many transitions and losses in his life. Nick’s social worker wants to hear from couples, as well as from those skilled single moms and dads who have strong support systems of family, friends, and community resources. It would be helpful for Nick to have adoptive parent(s) who have a good grasp of how early neglect and abuse impact a child’s sense of well being and his social and behavioral development.
