JESSE (4/96) is a young teen enjoys going to church and would welcome the opportunity to be part of a family that attends church and participates in youth and church community activities. He longs to have the stability and permanency of an adoptive family.

Jesse’s passion is fishing, and he goes whenever he has the chance. He loves the outdoors! He also enjoys kicking a soccer ball, throwing a football, and riding his bike. Jesse’s great love for animals has him hoping his new family loves them, too. He would love to have family pets.

Jesse’s positive qualities, such as his politeness, friendliness, and great sense of humor, are most readily apparent when he has a predictable daily routine; rules, expectations, and limits that are clear and consistent; and a caring adult nearby to help him stay on track. Jesse likes to laugh and tell jokes and he can be a delightful conversationalist, especially one-on-one. He’s engaging and seems to have a wonderful memory.

Jesse has made significant behavioral gains over the years in foster care, and he continues to do better all the time with the support of very stable, structured child care and a mental health program that includes bi-monthly counseling and medication to help him have better internal controls and lessen his symptoms of attention difficulties and high energy. Jesse will most likely require such therapeutic supports for the foreseeable future.

Jesse has great support in his school program where he has a good amount of one-on-one time with teaches who understand his issues and who can provide the high level of encouragement he needs to accomplish tasks. An authoritarian approach with demands that he do something will be met with disaster.

While Jesse would love to have a mom and a dad, he could do wonderfully well with a single dad who has a strong support system of family, friends, and community resources. Jesse would benefit from being an only child or the youngest of older, emotionally and behaviorally healthy teenage or adult children.
