Cody has the abiltiy to attach to new folks, just as he has with his current foster mom. Cody has made good strides over the last several months in this placement. One of Cody's main issues seems to be with his relationship with his sister. While he has strong bonds with her, the two are very competative with one another. Cody is working on being less domineering with her and developing ways to handle his anger appropriately. Madison is an adorable four-year-old girl. She has a great smile and fun personality. Generally outgoing and interactive, she does take a while to warm up to new people, especially other kids. Madison likes to get dirty and play outside. She likes to catch bugs, make forts and pick flowers. Madison is also very articulate. She is able to express herself pretty well for her age. She enjoys helping in the yard and is cooperative around the foster home. Madison also likes to dance and listening to music. While Madison is slowly but surely learning to use her words to talk about her feelings and thoughts instead of acting them out, she still has tantrums but they are much fewer and further between. Madison engages most easily with adults. While she can get along with other kids, it tends to take her longer to feel comfortable with them than it does to feel comfortable with adults. Madison can come across as shy in some situations. Although competative with Cody, she has a strong bond with him. She, too, has shown positive attachments to her current foster mother with whom she has built a good level of trust with her. Madison is making very good strides in her emotional stability in the placement. Madison is involved in counseling at this time. Currently, she is working on better self control and developing her capacity to talk about her feelings instead of acting them out. Cody and Madison’s adoptive family needs to be able to provide them with the stability, consistency and love that they need now and in the future. The family needs to understand that the children may need time to transition into their adoptive home and to form attachments. It will be important for Cody and Madison’s new folk(s) to be very supportive of the children’s on-going counseling for the foreseeable future.
