Child's name: MartinNumber: C7081 Birthdate: 9/94 State: Washington Listed: July 2008, Updated 8/09 If you have completed an adoption homestudy
and would like to have your information forwarded to this child's worker, contact us. For the 2009 2010, school year Martin will be in ninth grade. When his life is stable and he feels motivated, Martin has been able to earn classroom awards, such as being the “Most Improved Student In All Areas!” It will be important for him to have adoptive folk(s) to help him stay motivated. Physically healthy, Martin manages bouts of asthma and allergies with medication. His treatment program also has a medication component to help lessen his feeling of fear and anxiety. Martin has grown emotionally and behaviorally over the past few years. He is currently demonstrating greater capacity and willingness to trust adults and to form relationships, especially with folks who are patient, and trustworthy. A wonderful way for his adoptive folks to demonstrate their love and commitment to him would be to participate with him in family counseling during his transition into their home, or even for some months thereafter. Martin needs stability, structure, and predictability in his daily life. He also needs the security of clear, firm rules and limits, as well as a safety plan in the home with attentive supervision. He is very responsive to nurturing, encouragement, and positive regard. Having adoptive folk(s) who have a good grasp of how neglect and abuse can impact a child’s sense of well being and development will be important. Martin’s worker wants to hear from singles and couples who love teens and have strong support systems and good community resources. Having a trustworthy dad in his life could go a long way to helping Martin overcome the trauma of his past. While he needs to be an only child or the youngest in the home, he would benefit from having emotionally healthy, well-adjusted older siblings as he tends to imitate the behavior of those around him. Martin needs to have some contact with his siblings and his birth mother (he worries about her). Such contact will help him move forward in his own life. |
