Olivia came into care in November of 2003. While in care, she has struggled. Olivia has been in many foster homes and has suffered through one failed adoption. While medically she is very healthy, she has symptoms of past trauma, attachment concerns, attention difficulties and high energy. She has a skills trainer, attends therapeutic day treatment, and takes medication to help manage her behavior. Olivia does talk and worries about her birth mother, yet understands that she will not be living with her. Olivia needs a very strong family that is skilled with regards to her mental health and behavioral issues. She needs a family that is very patient and able to assist her in establishing trust. Olivia needs a family that realizes her issues will be ongoing and that she will have very good times and she will also go through difficult times. The family needs to be able to provide her with a loving, nurturing and structured environment. Olivia needs a family that will advocate for the appropriate therapy services, which may include therapists, skills trainer, psychiatrist, community resources, and school. Any transition for Olivia would have to be slow and thoughtful to minimize any trauma she may have. Olivia would benefit from a family that was willing to participate in a mediated agreement. Although Olivia does have challenges, she is a wonderful little girl who wants to become part of family. |
