"I'm Mattye. I am a social girl, and enjoy hanging out with my friends and talking about clothes, hair, makeup and boys. I love to be active and doing things. I hope I can find a family that is also really active and will go to my volleyball games and other events, and take me places with them. I do NOT like camping or other outdoor things, though. I'm a ‘city girl' and don't enjoy being outdoors much." "I like shopping, indoor sports that don't involve a lot of running, hanging out in my room listening to music and playing on the computer. I hope my new family lives in the city, the bigger the city the better. I would love to live in New York! I do have siblings in Idaho, and it’s really important to me to keep in contact with them. I would love to have a mom and dad or just a mom. "I really need to have my own room." Mattye’s social worker stated that she is a pleasant young lady who is very much a princess! She is also described as dramatic, a social butterfly, and engaging. Sometimes she struggles with feelings of getting the short end of the stick, but she is also learning to share the spotlight with foster siblings. Mattye loves sports, and is athletic. She is especially interested in volleyball. Mattye wants a family that will support her in her sports interests and other activities. She would do well in a family as the oldest child, and she knows she requires a lot of adult attention and interaction. She responds well to positive reinforcements and praise. Mattye does well in her foster home where she knows what is expected of her, and what the consequences are for not following the rules. A family where consistency, patience, and structure are valued is a must. Computer time is important to Mattye. She will work hard to earn this reward. Tutoring has helped her bring her grades back up after a brief dip. She's a bright girl who responds to positive reinforcement about educational goals. Mattye would also benefit from having a family who can help her continue to have a positive cultural connection with her African American heritage. Mattye is anxious to find a permanent family. This delightful teen will surely blossom into a secure, responsible, loving adult with the support of the right family. |
