LYNDREANNA (3/95), or Anna, as she prefers to be called, is an intelligent, engaging teenager. She loves shopping for clothes and experimenting with make up. A good student, Anna gets mostly As and Bs with a C in math. She enjoys Spanish and swimming the most. Anna’s hobbies include re-decorating her bedroom, reading, playing cards and board games, socializing with friends, and spending time with animals. Anna prefers to indoor pursuits more than outdoors activities. Her favorite movies on TV are comedies and horror shows, and she enjoys reality TV shows and listening to music, especially the Jonas Brothers. Anna also has an extensive stuffed bear collection which appears to give her comfort.

This summer, Anna realized she has a love of travel when she spent time with her foster family on a road trip to Las Vegas. She also took an interest in volunteering this summer and has stated she got a lot of pleasure out of helping others, especially families who are struggling.

Anna and her siblings were placed in the care of their paternal grandparents in October 2006. In December 2007, the children came into foster care. Anna was moved to a separate foster home one week later to better meet her needs.

Anna was a primary caretaker for her two younger sisters and a younger brother prior to coming into foster care. Since Anna has been separated from her siblings, she has made tremendous progress in recognizing her need to control them. While she does not believe that she wants to live with them again, she will be counting on her adoptive folks to help her maintain close contact with them.

The majority of Anna’s struggles with her foster parents are due to her passive aggressive behavior, which appears to be based largely on fear rather than a general disregard for rules and/or authority figures. She does not display any significant behavior problems at school, in the community or with peers.

The prospective adoptive family for Anna would ideally be a couple. While she would like to have a mother and father, she is open to having two moms, or a single mom. Anna would prefer to be an only child. She recognizes that she gets caught up in trying to parent younger children, but remains open to having older siblings.

Having adoptive parents who have a good grasp of the needs of children who have experienced early neglect and trauma would be very helpful. Anna will likely need some time to learn to trust that her adoptive folks will truly be there for her.

Life with Anna will have its challenges and demands at times, but it should be highly rewarding, too. Smart, articulate and resilient, Anna will benefit from having a family that possesses enough strength and determination to provide her with the love, support, and guidance she needs to achieve her full potential.
