JAYDON (12/00), ALYSSA (7/02) and JONATHAN (3/04) are three wonderful siblings. Developmentally on track and physically healthy, these delightful children need of a safe, stable, loving adoptive home where they can grow up together. The children are very responsive to daily encouragement, praise, and appreciation from the significant adults in their lives. Jaydon, Alyssa and Jonathan have all learned to trust their current foster parents and have formed attachments to them. The siblings, who came into foster care since January 2007, are not yet legally free.

Jaydon is a funny, likeable boy with a big bright smile, short brown hair, and big brown eyes. He excels academically, enjoys school, and is developing a great love of reading. Jaydon makes friends easily and enjoys and enjoys hanging out with his mates.

Alyssa is a cute, talkative little girl with dark brown hair, and expressive brown eyes. She doesn’t have a shy bone in her body and will talk to anyone that will listen. Alyssa, too, has a love for reading and enjoys going to school. For the 2009-2010 school year she will be in second grade. Alyssa likes to be busy, and a favorite activity is riding her bike around her neighborhood.

Jonathan has a wonderful smile that lights up a room and engaging brown eyes. This energetic little boy gets attention wherever he goes. Sociable, loving, and affectionate (when you have earned his trust!), he looks up to his older siblings. Jonathan enjoys being the “baby” of the sibling group.

Jaydon, Alyssa, and Jonathan have an older sister (13) and an older brother (11), both of whom are being placed with be with a relative. The relative is unable to provide permanency for all of five children. Once they are in their permanent family, Jaydon, Alyssa, and Jonathan will be counting on their adoptive folks to help them maintain contact with the older children.

Jaydon, Alyssa, and Jonathan, who are anxious about what the future holds for them, and there have been therapeutic supports in place since 2007 to help them deal with feelings of grief, loss and abandonment, and to help prepare them for adoption. Having adoptive parent(s) willing to participate with them in family counseling during the transition into their adoptive home would be wonderful ways to demonstrate the family’s commitment and love. It would also help the children to see that their new folks value using such resources to help family members' deal with past issues and make behavioral changes. The children will likely benefit from having therapeutic supports available to them on an as-needed basis for the foreseeable future. It will take time, patience, and understanding for these children to move forward in their adoptive placement.

Jaydon, Alyssa, and Jonathan adoptive parents need to be able to meet the children’s individual needs and encourage their individual strengths. Structure with a consistent daily routine, clear rules, expectations, and limits will go a long way to helping the children be successful in their adoptive home.
