ARRIANNA (11/00) is an attractive girl with a passion for animals. She is exceptionally gifted in caring for her pets, meeting their daily physical needs and providing needed love and affection. Arrianna describes herself as a "tomboy", who loves to play outside. She likes to swim, camp, hike, and is described as a "pro" at fishing. She is also, though, "girly." Her favorite colors are pink and magenta! And she loves crafts of all kinds, especially making cards. She’s also a big fan of Hannah Montana. Arrianna has grown by leaps and bounds over the past several months, according to her current foster family. These days most adults and children experience Arrianna as a relaxed, confident, and self-assured eight-and-a-half year old. Arrianna, who came into foster care most recently in March of 2008, is not yet fully legally free.

Intelligent and articulate, Arrianna is very sweet with a generous heart. She recently had her gorgeous, light brown hair with natural blonde streaks cut shoulder length so that she could donate her cut hair to Locks of Love.

Arrianna will enter third grade for the 2009-2010 school year. She would benefit from having some extra support at school and at home to help her catch up to peers. She’s about six months behind academically. Arrianna is creative, too, and loves crafts of all kinds, especially making cards.

Arrianna is described as very social, independent, and extremely responsible. She makes friends easily. Reading, music and singing, PE, and lunch are her favorite school subjects. She successfully attended an after-school program this past school year.

There are therapeutic supports in place to help Arrianna deal with issues of grief, loss, and abandonment. Arrianna enjoys her sessions, and over the past several months she has made extensive gains behaviorally. She is continuing to work, though, on developing new tools and strategies to help her deal with frustrations and stress and to increase her problem solving skills.

Being willing to participate with Arrianna in family counseling during her transition into their home by her adoptive folks would be an act of love and commitment. It would also let Arrianna know that they value using such resources to help family members deal with past hurts and to grow emotionally and behaviorally.

Arrianna would love to have older teenage sisters. Her social worker is seeking experienced parents who have lots of time and attention to provide to the terrific eight-and-a-half year old.
