Meet LUIS (8/01), ADINNA “Arianna” (11/03), and TRINA (8/06). These adorable siblings have their own unique personalities, but they have one thing in common – the need for a permanent family that will give them the opportunity to grow up together. It is important for these siblings who have such strong bonds, to be together. The children also have strong bonds with some birth family members, including their birth mother. The children’s worker is especially interested in hearing from prospective adoptive parent(s) who will honor these significant connections and be open to mediation to determine the level of contact that will be most helpful to Luis, Trina, and Arianna. The children are not yet legally free.

The children are very bright and Luis and Arianna enjoy school. While Luis and Adrianna are bilingual and speak English and Spanish, Trina's speaks primarily Spanish but does understand both English and Spanish.

Luis, who is the oldest, is a handsome eight-year old with big brown eyes, dark brown hair, and a very engaging smile. He is a smart and resilient. His resiliency can be seen in the way that he is able to handle transitions. Luis loves to play outdoors and enjoys soccer. When indoors, he likes to play video games, color, and do puzzles. Luis is very patient with other children and has taken on a "big brother" leadership role in his foster home. He takes pride in being a leader and does a good job of sharing. As he feels come to more safe and secure in his foster family, he is slowly becoming more affectionate, and even asking for a hug before bedtime. He is still, however, cautious around new people, new environments, and new foods. Having had multiple placements over the years has been hard on him. A picky eater, he is learning to give some new foods a taste before deciding he doesn't like it.

Arianna is a sweet, energetic, bubbly five-year old who thrives with lots of affection and structure. A very bright girl who enjoys coloring and likes to listen to music and sing, she was very excieted to be starting kindergarten this month. Arianna is a "girly" girl and loves to play with her stuffed ponies and dolls. While she is very affecionate, giving hugs and climbing on people's laps, she sometimes needs to be reminded about boundaries and safety rules. While Mexican food is her preference, especially rice, beans, and tortillas, Arianna is braver than Luis about trying new foods. Arianna is protective of her siblings, and at times falls into a bit of a parenting role.

Three-year old Trina is adorable with big, bright, brown eyes. Her smile is contagious and she has a great little giggle when she's having fun. While she is very shy initially, once she warms up to you, she will want to play, play, play! She is a very active little girl who can be very determined and strong willed, yet she is clearly affecionate and likes to cuddle. Trina is a good eater and likes most foods.

This is the third time in foster care for Luis and Arianna, and the second time for Trina. They have not always been able to all stay together which has always been hard on them. At this time, Luis and Arianna are together, and Trina is with a care provider who previously took care of her siblings. There are therapeutic supports in place to help the children deal with feeling of grief, loss, and abandonment.

Luis, Arianna, and Trina need a family that is able to provide them much love and individual attention. These children need a home that is structured and consistent so that they feel safe and secure, one that understands the affects of the neglect and abuse these children have suffered. It will, of course, be essential for their adoptive folks to take pride in the children’s Hispanic heritage and help them to continue to feel connected to the Hispanic community. It would be wonderful, too, if the adoptive parent(s) were bilingual and speak both English and Spanish.
