Meet Dakota

Dakota is excited to share some of his story through our In-Depth Profiles, a NWAE project that empowers teens to speak directly to potential families. Learn more about In-Depth Profiles™.

Favorite way to bond: Movie time
Excited about: Learning to cook
Not so hidden talent: Singing
Wants to find: A family to love and support him

Special Note: Guardianship Family Needed
Dakota is waiting for a loving, committed family who can provide long lasting care. While adoption is not an option at this time, he still needs permanency through a guardianship family. Learn more about Guardianship here.

If it’s a hands-on activity, you can be sure that Dakota will be there! This creative teen loves building Legos, doing crafts, and playing his favorite video games. Dakota is also very active. One of his favorite places to go is the trampoline park!

Something he loves more than activities is spending quality time with the people most important to him! From his friends and caregivers, to his sister, Dakota finds the most joy in hanging out with the people in his life.

Dakota is a lot of things, but his caseworker especially appreciates how witty, caring, compassionate, and empathetic he is.

Currently in the 7th grade, Dakota is enjoying school and all the learning he gets to do. His current favorite subjects are history and language arts. He’s a driven teen who is already thinking about his future! Dakota thinks he might like to have a job someday that works with helping animals or people (maybe a doctor or a veterinarian!).

Dakota’s caregivers have described him as thoughtful and loving. He’s a great communicator and has a way of connecting with adults in his life. A supportive family willing to give Dakota the one-on-one attention he craves would be an excellent match for him.

Dakota and his team are hopeful to connect with any family configuration
. A family where Dakota was the only child, or a family
with older siblings that might be able to provide a mentor-like role to Dakota would be a great fit.

Adventurous, creative families are something Dakota has expressed interest in—families who can keep up with his desire to create and be active!

Dakota is well-connected with his sister, and potential families who will help Dakota maintain that important connection throughout his life will be best for him.

It is important to note that while adoption is not an option at this time, Dakota still needs permanency through a guardianship family. Can you see Dakota in your family? Please reach out to us! We’re excited to find him the permanent home and support he deserves.
