Meet Gabriella

Gabriella is excited to share some of her story through our In-Depth Profiles, a NWAE project that empowers teens to speak directly to potential adoptive families. Learn more about In-Depth Profiles™

Known for: Her quirky humor
Favorite animal: Dogs
Future occupation: Doctor or nurse
Looking for: An adoptive family

Animals, sunshine and just being outdoors, these are the things Gabriella says bring her joy, which is fitting considering her sunny disposition and gentle nature. Gabriella is thoughtful, kind and uniquely in tune with herself and the world around her.

Regarding her love for animals, Gabriella has said, “dogs are very comforting and provide a sense of calm, and cats are great too because they don’t judge you.” It’s no surprise that Gabriella would love to find an after-school job or volunteer position at an animal shelter. Gabriella would be excited to hear from families with pets, especially dogs and/or cats! For her In-Depth Profile Gabriella was excited to visit a pet store where she got to meet the cats that were up for adoption and check out all the other animals.

Gabriella has a creative streak that she’s been embracing recently trying out painting and scrapbooking. She loves getting lost in an art project, a good book or enjoying music on her MP3 player. Though she values her alone time and can be a little shy at first, Gabriella enjoys hanging out with her peers and adults she feels close to. She’s the kind of kid who can get along with anyone and likes to make the people around her feel comfortable. She really loves relaxing on Sundays to get ready for the upcoming week, sharing that time with the people she cares about means a lot to her.

Currently in the 10th grade, Gabriella is a great student even though she often finds school a little boring. She’s worked hard and has come a long way with her math and reading skills which she knows is going to be important as she is looking forward to working in the healthcare field. A family who will support her education and advocate for her would be a great fit.

Gabriella and her team are especially eager to hear from families in Washington state and are open to any family configuration, but families with a strong female presence would be beneficial. Gabriella would do well with younger siblings or much older siblings and would be comfortable as an only child as well.

Gabriella has important biological family members that she wants to remain connected with. It will be important for a family to support Gabriella in maintaining these connections and so Gabriella's team is especially interested in hearing from WA state families.

Gabriella is a great kid with a bright future and is excited to find a family to bond and grow with. If you can see Gabriella in your family, please reach out!

Beyond The Profile: I've gotten to know Gabriella through a number of conversations and meet-ups and I have truly enjoyed the experience. Gabriella has a calm gentle energy about her that makes you feel very comfortable. One of our first conversations was over a Zoom call. She was explaining to me why she loves animals so much, that she feels connected to them and that they make her feel secure and safe. As an animal lover myself, it really hit home what she was saying and I could tell how genuine she was being. By chance, earlier that day my cat had caught a wild baby bunny and brought it to me, still alive. I wasn't sure if it was injured so I had put it in a small crate with food and water to keep an eye on it before I released it. I told Gabriella about this and brought the bunny out to show her through the computer camera. It was several weeks later that I went to see Gabriella in person for the first time and the very first thing she said when I arrived was, "how is the baby bunny?" Gabriella is truly a compassionate animal lover and it is so sweet. While recording her In-Depth Profile at a local pet store, she and I had so much fun looking at all of the fish and reptiles and telling each other stories about pets we've both had and pets we'd like to have. I was a little surprised when she talked about her plan to enter the healthcare field for people, not for animals, but it actually makes a lot of sense that her compassion reaches beyond animals to all living things. Gabriella is an amazing teenager and I'm really excited for her to find the family who will love and support her with the same tenderness and compassion she has.
